THE HUNTER CLUB

6 St Andrews Street South, Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk, IP33 3PH | Venue Cap. 200 (Main Hall) 120 (Green Room) | Website

The Hunter Club was established in 2010 to provide a platform for East Anglian artists performing their own material on a DIY basis. A former Royal British Legion building with two dedicated gig rooms, the venue hosts a range of regular events, including a monthly jazz club , fortnightly open mic sessions, and celebrated twice-monthly alternative/indie/punk night Washing Machine, plus annual events such as Bury St Edmunds Fringe Festival and the BurySOUND Band Competition. We have hosted events for BBC Music Introducing in Suffolk, are supporting partners of the Homegrown Music Festival and New Music Generator Awards, and have strong links to other independent venues in West Suffolk such as The Constitutional Club, Oakes Barn, Vinyl Hunter and the John Peel Centre. We also work closely with West Suffolk College to provide opportunities for aspiring promoters, musicians and technicians (all of our current technical staff are former college students), and provide studio space for Noise Solution, an organisation which provides music mentoring programs for people facing challenging circumstances.

We have striven to create an inclusive, joyful venue where every person and every genre is welcome, and anything is possible; as a result, the Bury St Edmunds music scene is currently enjoying an explosion of incredible artists, all performing the music they love on their own terms to ecstatic, supportive crowds.
