ROADTRIP & THE WORKSHOP

243 Old Street, London, EC1V 9EY | Venue Cap. 108 | Website

Roadtrip & The Workshop started to make things happen on the Old Street roundabout side of Shoreditch in July 2008.

Back then many questioned the artist & designer Paul Daly’s decision to take over a venue in a 1960s council block. Since then other businesses have followed to become close neighbours of Paul’s establishment inspired by his nomadic youth and extensive road trips in the USA.

A big covered terrace, jukebox, sports on the screens, a vegan kitchen residency, DJs and live music mean that it’s an exile on the busy Old Street for everyone who agrees with the open- minded and inclusive attitude of the bar that doesn’t take itself too seriously. As the night progresses, the curtains get pulled and the space transforms from a laid- back hang-out to a late-night haunt all the way until 5am.

Follow the neon pointing an arrow down the stairs in Roadtrip and you’ll find yourself in The Workshop. With an official capacity of 108, 80 people pack out the area in front of the stage. This means that acts with plenty of talent who haven’t built up their following yet can get a taste of an amazing atmosphere as it doesn’t take an army to rock out in The Workshop. Or it’s a space for a select few who are lucky enough to get up close and personal with someone used to way bigger stages.
