Riverside has been sitting pretty on Newcastle’s historic Quayside since 1880, taking part in the area’s transformation from its industrial roots to a dazzling social scene, home to some of the city’s best bars and restaurants.
Riverside has changed its purpose over the many years it has stood alongside the River Tyne. Finally opening its doors as an alternative music venue in 1985, Riverside exists as one of the most iconic and celebrated buildings along the Tyne. Following the venue refurbishment in 2018 Riverside now serves as an amazing music livespace, artspace, and clubspace.
Riverside has an impressive history of local, national, and international touring artists and acts including Courtney Love, Royal Blood, Interpol, The Sonics, The Zombies, The Coral, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Fall, and lots of other well known artists. The venue’s 600 person capacity makes it one of the larger independent music venues in Newcastle and the L Acoustics Sound makes it an incredible place to listen to live music.
In addition to being a reputed music venue, Riverside also doubles as a vibrant clubspace til late, with various club nights to enjoy. The venue’s two rooms play host to Newcastle’s best DJs, adding to the city’s wild party atmosphere.
Situated only 5 minutes walk from Newcastle Central Station, it is at the heart of the city’s buzzing nightlife. Riverside remains one of the best music venues in Newcastle with the added bonus of calling the beautiful Quayside its home.
