Steve Lamacq joins us on tour for Independent Venue Week 2018

Steve Lamacq has announced the full extent of his IVW tour later this month, including venues and artist performances

The tour will feature a visit to the infamous John Peel Centre for Creative Arts in Stowmarket, where Steve will be broadcasting his show live from the local BBC station. Performing live later that evening will be a host of John Peel Centre’s ‘Emerging’ acts, including Pet Needs, Sound Mirrors, Kulk and Rosie.

On Tuesday, Steve and Co. will be heading to The Boileroom, Guildford for their radio show, where they’ll be chatting to gig-regulars and venue owners alike for Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show. Afterwards, they’ll be entertained by a headline set from Liverpool’s Trudy and the Romance.

Wednesday sees Lammo head North to The Cookie in Leicester, where he and a select crowd of lucky punters will be treated to a very special performance from Gaz Coombes, who is getting ready to release his new album ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ in May this year.

Hebden Bridge will be Steve’s next destination on this year’s IVW tour, where he’ll be stopping off at the famous Trades Club. There, Richard Dawson will be performing tracks from his critically acclaimed album ‘Peasant’.

And finally, for the final day of Steve Lamacq’s IVW, Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios will host a special broadcast for Steve’s 4pm-7pm BBC 6 Music show. Listeners will be treated to interviews from some very special guests, as well as a live performance from 6 Music favourites Idles. You can apply for tickets to attend the broadcast on BBC6 Music’s website.

Rachel Davies, Commissioning Executive for BBC Music, said: “Independent Venue Week shines a light on the UK’s grassroots venues and the work they do to unite artists and music fans across the country. We are proud to be an official IVW partner this year.”

This year, broadcast support for the project is coming from BBC Music who is on board as an official media partner across radio and online.
